Slalom Spam Trap Module

Copyright (c) 2004 - 2005 by Slalom Services, Inc.

Bait the Spammers and put a scrapeable "mail to" address in your portal.

This module puts a one pixel transparent gif on any portal page that is linked to an email address.

Many MTA's allow setting up a spam trap. Go into your domain email admin and set up a new address (i.e. null@SlalomServices.com) then set this address up as a spam trap. This will cause all email sent to this address and any other address in the domain to be filtered. Then sprinkle the SpamTrap module around on pages where you have to publish legitimate email addresses.

When the scrapers get your legitimate addresses they will also pick up the SpamTrap address. Including the spamtrap address in their emails will cause all copies of their email to be filtered. Enjoy!
